Hello Adored Readers, this is my third book that I will get to share. Like the previous stories, I loved writing this one. A special dedication to the best friends out there. May you continue to value your friendships and forever cherish the brotherhood or sisterhood you form along the way.
Thelma and Theodora reflect the exact meaning of friendship to a point that they become family. They endure hardships along the way even when some of their other friendships are at stake. Determined to stay united, they fight without stopping.
"Good morning Thelma", said Theodora "Good morning Theodora". Replied Thelma "How are you, today"? asked Theodora "Good, how are you"? replied Thelma "Good too, thanks" said Theodora Thelma and Theodora were good friends who constantly had arguments but they would always find ways of solving them. Thelma lived East of town whereas Theodora lived North of town. They would visit each other on a regular basis. Thelma and Theodora were different although they shared a few things in common. Theodora enjoyed being indoors, preferred short hair and had arachnophobia. On the other hand, Thelma liked being outdoors, preferred long hair and didn't fear spiders in fact she loved them. "Winter break is soon approaching hooray." said Thelma happily "Much needed break." replied Theodora "Whooooah...." said Thelma with a sigh. "Any plans?" asked Theodora "I have no idea, yet". replied Thelma "Me, neither". said Theodora During the school breaks, Thelma and her family would go for vacations and sometimes Theodora would be invited. One day, Thelma was at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Atwater and her young brother Terrence. Mrs. Atwater was in the kitchen making smoothies. "Hello Mom" said Thelma "Hello my love, how are you today"? Replied Mrs. Atwater She also asked her daughter if she wanted to have a smoothie. "Oh yes, I would love to take one. What's the smoothie, Mom?" Thelma asked "Watermelon and strawberry smoothie." Mrs. Atwater replied. Later, Thelma was given a full glass of the smoothie. She drank everything and requested for another one. Her Mom gave her the smoothie again. As, Thelma was drank, she asked her Mom whether they will be going on vacation as a family that summer. "Yes, most likely but I will first confirm with dad." Replied Mrs. Atwater "If we were to go somewhere, where should we go?" Asked Mrs. Atwater "Disney world, Mom" Replied Thelma happily "That's a good choice" Mrs. Atwater replied with a smile. "Alright, Mom. I'll see you again soon" Thelma said "Alright, my love will see you, take good care." Thelma hugged her Mom. Soon, Mr. and Mrs. Atwater went to work. Thelma stayed at home in order to take care of her young brother, Terrence. She had given him a nick name Tiny Terrence. Thelma loved her brother very much. That evening, Royal, Thelma's other friend came to visit. He would come and play with Terrence. Just like Theodora, Thelma and Royal had been friends for a very long time. Upon Thelma opening the door, they said hello to each other and closed the door.
Thelma offered Royal some food. Soon, he finished eating. He wanted to play with Terrence but Thelma requested to bathe him first. After some minutes, Terrence, Thelma and Royal started playing an indoor game. They seemed to have enjoyed the game. Later, Terrence started yawning. "I think he wants to sleep since it's also getting late and I should be going." Said Royal he also offered to carry Terrence to his room. "Thanks, Royal for visiting and helping me with Terrence." Thelma said "Not a problem, Thelma. That's okay." Royal replied then he left. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater came back home. Thelma welcomed them back. "How was your day, did anyone come to visit?" Mr. Atwater asked. "Ummm, same old, I took good care of Terrence and Royal came by" Thelma replied "Alright dear, we feel exhausted, please help us put these groceries where they belong, we are going to rest and also thanks for taking care of your brother." Said Mr. Atwater "Thanks, my love." Said Mrs. Atwater "Always, Mom and Dad". Thelma replied with a smile and wished her parents a good night. "Likewise, love" Mr. and Mrs. Atwater both replied Having put away the groceries and switched off the lights, Thelma went in her room and face timed Theodora form her computer. They talked about how their days had gone then later, wished each other good night and slept. The next day, Thelma woke up very early and started getting ready for the day. It was the week Summer Break. That meant that Theodora and Thelma had the entire week off from school. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater had also woken up. "Good morning Mon and Dad" said Thelma "Good morning, Thelma" Replied both Mr. and Mrs. Atwater. Terrence was in the room too. "Me and Mom have decided that we will be taking the vacation this time at Disney land". Said Mr. Atwater. "Hooray....... I'm even speechless." replied Thelma her and Terrence were very excited. "May we please go with Theodora?" Thelma asked "Yes, sure also tell her in advance." Said Mr. Atwater "Okay sure, dad" Replied Thelma as she rushed outside the door to go meet her best friend. Mr. Atwater just smiled and made for himself and his wife some breakfast. On the way, Thelma gave Theodora a call after entering the bus. She had also told her that she will be coming to visit her. Soon, Thelma had arrived at Theodora's. She knocked on her door many times but their was no response. She decided to give Theodora another call. "Hello, I'm at your house, where are you?" Thelma asked "On my way from my work." Replied Theodora "Okay, will see you soon". After a short while, Theodora arrived and opened the door. She made some tea and baked vanilla cupcakes for both of them. "Alright Thelma, what was it that it couldn't wait?" Asked Theodora "My family will be going on vacation to Disney land and they invited you to come so that means that we will be going together". Replied Thelma "Yes, this is a dream come true, I've always wanted to go to Disney land, thankful for your parents". Theodora replied "For sure" replied Thelma and they both hugged each other. Soon, Thelma left. Everyone at home was fast asleep apart from her dad.
Thelma started telling her dad about her excitement for the Disney land vacation. "Hopefully, it will be one to remember". Mr. Atwater replied After everyone went to bed. Two days later. It was time for the vacation. Mr. Atwater woke up early that day in order to get ready and so was everyone. The family was very happy too. Theodora on the other hand, had already told her parents and they were helping her with the packing too. "For how long is the trip going to take?" asked Mrs. Barnes Theodora's mom "Not more than four days, mom'" Replied Theodora "Alright" said Mrs. Barnes "Take good care and stay out of danger". said Mrs. Barnes "I will and I don't want you and dad to worry". replied Theodora At the Atwater Household, Thelma and her dad were planning a movie night. "Who's ready for the movie night?" asked Thelma "Me" shouted Terrence everyone smiled because of Terrence's enthusiasm. "Don't forget the popcorn". Said Mrs. Atwater. "Of course, Mom I got that taken care of". Replied Thelma "I had invited Royal to come and join us for the movie night". said Mr. Atwater "Please, make enough popcorn" He added. "Okay< dad" Replied Thelma She also called Terrence to help her in the kitchen. After Terrence and Thelma finished making the popcorn, they took it to the dining room. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater had chosen the movie. The doorbell rang, "I will get it" said Mr. Atwater "Come in Royal". said Mr. Atwater "Thank you". Replied Royal. "Just in time for some fresh pop corn". Said Terrence "What's up buddy?" Said Royal softly as he played with Terrence "Alright, the movie has started" Said Mr. Atwater Mr. and Mrs. Atwater came together while Royal sat beside Thelma and Terrence. All of them were having popcorn while watching. Royal and Thelma seemed to have the most fun. "Who chose the movie" Royal asked. "Dad". Terrence answered "Why, is it boring?" Mr. Atwater asked. "No, it's fun and interesting". Terrence answered "Alright" replied Mrs. Atwater "Tomorrow is vacation". Said Thelma "Where are you, going?" Royal asked "Disneyland" Replied Thelma "I'm going to miss, I heard that place is very amazing" He added. "Don't mind, I'll try to send you pics." Said Thelma "Okay" Royal replied Soon the movie ended and Royal was ready to go home. He thanked Mr. Atwater again for the invite and wished everyone a goodnight. No sooner had Terrence switched off the lights than it started raining heavily. "It seems I'm stuck now". Said Royal "you can stay and sleep over if you want". Said Terrence Royal glanced at Thelma. "No, no I' get to go to work tomorrow". Royal replied. Royal was in college and had no family apart from his adoptive parents. "Come and I take you to sleep, Terrence". Thelma said "Thelma" Royal called, "Thanks for the popcorn" it was delicious". Thelma smiled "You are welcome". "Good night, Royal" Said Terrence "Thanks, buddy good night." Replied Royal then Thelma took the brother to bed. After she walked Royal to his car. "Have fun, tomorrow, Thelma". Said Royal "Honestly, I wish that you were part of the trip, you know" said Thelma "Maybe, next time". Replied Royal following that with a hug. After, he left. Thelma ran back to the house. "Okay fam, I'm off to bed, feeling sleepy, see you all tomorrow and good night everyone" Said Mr. Atwater "Good night, dad" Replied Thelma. Soon, everyone went to sleep except Thelma who was on the computer, chatting with Theodora. Obviously, they talked about what they were going to do at Disneyland. Truth be told, these two were the most excited ones for the vacation. "Okay sugarcane, I'm going to let you sleep". Said Theodora "Alrighty, have a good night then". Replied Thelma After, they all went to bed. The next day, Thelma was the first one to wake up, feeling very energetic. Soon Terrence and the rest of the family woke up. Thelma made breakfast while the rest carried the luggage to the car. After, everyone sat and ate breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater started debating on who should drive. "Toby, you are the one driving". Said Mrs. Atwater. "No, it's you, Fidela" Said Mr. Atwater "Team dad, driving". Said Thelma then Terrence also joined in. "Okay, let's go". Mr. Atwater said with a defeated look on his face. Terrence and Thelma giggled. "Don't forget, Theodora." Said Thelma "We are going to pick her at her place". Replied Mr. Atwater Soon, Theodora was picked up. Everyone was excited and kept talking. No sooner had they arrived than Thelma received a phone call.
Guess who had called, Royal. It seemed Royal wanted to take his relationship with Thelma to the next level. Thelma didn't seem to pay attention. "Hey Royal, what's happening?" Thelma asked "Hello, nothing much, just checking on you, guys". Royal replied "Oh, how nice of you. so, we have just arrived, feeling exhausted". Thelma replied "Yeah, alright I'll leave you to go, rest, might call or text you later". replied Royal "Thanks, for checking on me". said Thelma "Anything for you, best friend". Replied Royal "Bye Royal, stay safe" said Thelma "Bye Thelma, you too stay safe". replied Thelma Soon, Thelma went to join the rest. "Who was on the phone". asked Mr. Atwater "It was Royal" Replied Thelma "Okay, let's go explore our rooms". said Mr. Atwater Off they all went. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater had booked two rooms which meant Thelma, Theodora and Terrence were sharing a room. Theodora was a night owl while Thelma and her brother were early birds. Soon, it was dinner time. Terrence fell fast asleep while the rest went for dinner. "I feel tired" Said Thelma. "After dinner, you may go to bed". Replied Mr. Atwater "By the way, where is Terrence?" Asked Mrs. Atwater "Sleeping" Replied Theodora "Oh, okay" Replied Mrs. Atwater Immediately after dinner, everyone went to sleep. The next morning, everyone woke up late. Breakfast was served. Then, after everybody went to the beach. Terrence was super excited because he was going to pick some Theodora and Thelma played in the sand and swum as well. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater took a walk along the shore. "I love family vacations". Said Mr. Atwater "Me, too" Replied Mrs. Atwater "They are memorable, just what every family needs once in a while". Mrs. Atwater said. Two days passed and it was time to pack up and go back home. "May we stay?" Terrence asked "No, dear we get to go back since school is approaching". Replied Mrs. Atwater Thelma and Theodora wanted wanted to stay too since they had enjoyed everything but it was not possible. This time around, Mrs. Atwater decided to drive everyone back home. Theodora was dropped off. "Thank you very much for taking me with you, I had a blast". Said Theodora "Goodbye, Theodora" Said Terrence "Goodbye, sugarcane". Said Thelma "Goodbye my loves". Replied Theodora then she left.
At home, Theodora's Mom had prepared for her daughter her favorite food. Upon arrival Mr. and Mrs. Barnes welcomed their daughter back from Disney land after they had dinner. At the Atwater household, everything was going well so far. Everyone had arrived happily at home. Royal wanted to surprise Thelma. He stood outside the Atwater's home with red roses. Thelma was shocked, she was astounded too at Royal's bravery since he was not wearing a sweater and it was freezing outside. "Welcome back, Thelma". Royal said while giving Thelma the roses. Thelma smiled. "Thanks, Royal, by the way, how did you know that we were coming back?" Thelma said "I has asked, your dad". Royal replied "You can come in if you want". Thelma said "I noticed that you might be tired and I don't want to bother you but thanks instead I will leave you to recharge and rest". Royal replied "You're right Royal even the school break is almost done, only two days left". Thelma said "Very true Thelma, crazy how the time flies by quickly anyways have a good night". Said Royal "Likewise, Royal" replied Thelma Royal left. Everyone went to sleep. Two days, later. School had started, both Thelma and her best friend, Theodora were ready. It was one morning when Theodora couldn't get out of bed. Pain was shooting around her neck. She had a stiff neck. It was 7am in the morning and she had not yet left her room. Mrs. Barnes was concerned so she decided to go and check on her daughter. "Good morning, Theodora, how come you have not started getting ready for school, what's wrong?" Mrs. Barnes asked "Good morning, Mom. My neck hurts, I think I slept on my neck now it's stiff. replied Theodora "Alright. So sorry Theodora, I'm going to help you get up and take you to the hospital". Said Mrs. Barnes "Please, don't forget to let my professor know". Said Theodora. "You don't have to worry, I will" replied Mrs. Barnes. After, Theodora and her mom went to the hospital. Later, Mrs. Barnes called Theodora's professor and told her what had happened that morning. At the campus, Thelma was worried about Theodora that day since she didn't come to class that day but at the same time she was furious because Theodora had left her alone. After classes, Thelma gave Theodora a call. "Hey Theodora." said Thelma "Hey Thelma." Replied Theodora. "What happened today, are you good?' Thelma asked "You didn't come to school". Added Thelma "You're right, I've not been feeling well since morning because I had waken up with a stiff neck". Said Theodora "My mom had taken me to the hospital". Added Theodora "Oh no, I'm sorry Theodora, I hope you get better soon so that you are able to come back to school". Thelma said. "Thanks Thelma, yes hopefully." Replied Theodora "Take your meds". Said Theodora " Okay" Replied Theodora as she laughed. "Goodbye, Theodora" said Thelma "Goodbye Thelma, thanks for checking on me" replied Theodora "No problem, Theodora". Replied Thelma. At home, it was dinner time, Royal had gone to the Atwater's for dinner. He asked Thelma what she did mostly during the family vacation politely. "Enjoyed, just know I enjoyed the whole vacation". Thelma replied confidently. "Okay, I'm glad". Replied Royal. "Hey Royal, how are you?" Asked Mrs. Atwater "Work is great plus everything". Royal replied. "Thanks for asking, btw". He added. "No problem". Replied Mrs. Atwater. Soon, dinner time was done. Royal had left. As usual, Thelma put Terrence to sleep and everyone went to sleep
The next day at school. Thelma and Theodora were in the cafeteria then then a certain guy came to sit at their table. He was new at school and didn't know where to go. "Hey, I'm Albert, I'm new in the school". Theodora looked at Thelma, first then introduced herself. "I'm Theodora and this is my best friend, Thelma". She said "Hey, so where do you come from, where do you stay, why did you choose to come to this school" Theodora asked sarcastically. Thelma gave Theodora a look that made her quiet immediately. Theodora smiled too. "My best friend here, likes to joke around, please don't mind her". Thelma said "Is there any way we may help you?" Thelma asked politely. "No, it's fine, I was only looking for directions to the principal's office". Albert replied "Easy okay, take the stairs up and then head to the right where you will find a taupe door, that will be the office". Thelma replied. "Thank you so much, hope to see you, soon". Albert replied then he left. Theodora smiled. "Theodora, why are you smiling?" Thelma asked suspiciously. "Oh, no big deal" replied Theodora. Soon, the bell rang and everyone went to class. Albert had started walking with Thelma and Theodora. Even during the breaks and lunches, they would sit together in the cafeteria. One warm Friday evening, Albert decided to go and ask Thelma for her phone number. He was extremely nervous because he liked Thelma but he didn't know how to even approach her. "Yes, Albert you can!" He kept saying to himself. "Hey Thelma, may I please talk to you for a second?" Albert asked "Sure" Thelma replied. "May I please have your number?" Albert asked. At first Thelma smiled probably thinking it was a joke then she asked Albert if he was being serious. Of course, Albert told Thelma that he was being serious. After hesitating for a while, she finally gave him her number. Albert was very happy. Two weeks passed, Thelma and Albert started talking and texting each other. It seems Thelma liked Albert too. Albert asked Thelma out after and she agreed to go with him. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater requested to meet him got to know about Albert since He was going out with their daughter. That same day, Royal went to visit Thelma. It was an awkward moment since Royal had not met Albert yet. "Nice to see you, Royal". Said Thelma "Anything to drink?" Asked Mr. Atwater "No thanks, I'm fine". Royal replied as he stared at Thelma and Albert. He seemed confused too. "Royal, is everything okay?" Asked Mr. Atwater "It's just that you usually don't leave early whenever you come to visit". added Mr. Atwater. "I'm sorry, Mr. Atwater, I will be back". Royal replied after saying goodbye. Soon, Albert left too. Both Mr. and Mrs. Atwater like him.
Thelma had walked Albert to his car. "I don't understand Royal today, I wonder why he acted like that." Thelma said "By the way, that was Royal, my other best friend" Thelma added. "Okay but don't worry about your best friend just make sure you check up on him to know if everything is good" Replied Albert. "Okay, thanks" Thelma replied. Albert and Thelma hugged and both wished each other a good night. The next day after classes, Thelma visited Royal at his place. He was painting before Thelma came by. "Hey Royal, how are you doing?" Thelma asked. "I'm good thanks, how are you Thelma?" Royal asked. "I've come so that we may talk about what happened yesterday evening at home". Said Thelma. "I have a new friend now, he is called Albert". Thelma added. "To be honest, I'm disappointed in you, Thelma". Royal replied angrily. After a short moment of silence, Thelma stood up. "May I please know why because yesterday when you came by at home, you acted so strangely leaving me clueless of why you were that way." Thelma said softly. Royal stood up as well. "Alright, it was because of your new friend". Royal replied. "Why?" asked Thelma. "I thought that maybe you have replaced he with him in terms of friendship". Royal replied. "No, you know that no one is irreplaceable and that you will always be my other best friend". Thelma replied. "I love you, Thelma" Royal replied. Thelma seemed shocked. "I'm sorry Royal, I love you too as a friend, Alfred is my boyfriend". Thelma replied politely. Royal ordered Thelma out of his house with anger. Thelma drove back home while crying. Katrina, Royal's adoptive mom saw what had happened. "What have you done to the poor girl?' she asked Royal. "What's wrong?" Katrina asked. Royal eventually told his adoptive mom everything. "Son, what you did was wrong, I suggest that you go and apologize because she wishes you to be happy and I know that you wish the same for her as well". Katrina said. "For the sake of your friendship, don't let small arguments ruin your friendships". She added. "I will, definitely". Royal replied strongly. Soon, Thelma, Theodora, Albert and Royal were graduating. Everyone was excited. At the graduation ceremony, Thelma had also told Theodora about what had happened with Royal and she advised her to give Royal some time. Eight months passed and it was Terrence's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Atwater had invited everybody including Royal and others too. The party had begun. Royal was at home and was nervous but Katrina helped him to calm down. "Go, son and repair your friendship". said Katrina. "Thanks, Mom". replied Royal and soon he left. No sooner had Terrence started cutting his birthday than Royal arrived. He had a huge masterpiece that was well wrapped. Royal got a microphone after Terrence finished cutting his cake and apologized to Thelma. "I'm deeply sorry for everything I said and how I made you feel" Royal said. "I've brought this for you in addition to my apology Thelma". Thelma was happy as she received the masterpiece. "And I want you to be happy, Albert please, never dare to hurt my best friend". Royal added. Thelma forgave Royal. The party continued after Thelma and Royal apologized. Everybody had fun and danced until they got tired. Royal, Theodora, and Thelma felt overjoyed because they rekindled their friendship and their love for one another burnt brighter like a fire more than ever.
